Heel to toe or Toe to heel?
Ever had shin splints? They hurt! They slow you down and make you change your running pattern. Fat foot!
Apparently injecting fat into the foot can help stop Plantar Fasciitis! Normally we prescribe--rest, ice, warming, elevation, insoles, orthotics, cushioned shoes, stopping ( running; standing too long; walking too much), pain killers, steroid injection, ultrasound, laser therapy, strapping, massage, stretching and finally surgery!
So if injecting fat resolved the issue. Please lets us have more of it.
Diabetes Foot ulcer stats for West Midlands !
- Percentage of diabetics patients alive and ulcer-free at 12 weeks after fist expert assessment for West Midlands is 55% for less severe ulcers and only 34% for more severe ulcers! Proportion of ulcers that are severe at first expert assessment (FEA) in 2021 is 43%.
- What percentage diabetic patients die from Heart failure, Myocardial infarction and Stroke after (FEA) with foot ulcer 12 weeks later: 7%, 5.8%, 6.2% respectively!
- Stoke CCG has around 20 000 diabetics
- As for major amputations within 6 months of (FEA), percentage for severe ulcers is 2.7%
- The 4th NDFA report (2019) identified the following as particular risk factors for major amputation: severe ischaemia, involvement of the heel, older age, smoking and renal disease
